I was raised to clean my plate and to save packing boxes and bubble wrap in case they can be reused. So the thought of tossing out the unused food in our cabinets simply does not compute. But shipping it ON A SHIP is hardly practical (that’s how all of our stuff is going to… Continue reading Cupboard Challenge
Sunday morning my husband asked if I wanted breakfast from Bread Oven. I instantly jumped to the conclusion that he wanted an excuse to go there to pick up my annual box of fancy chocolates. And I was right! It’s a little sad that they aren’t the local Sweets of Eden as they were in… Continue reading Happy Valentine’s Day!
One of my favorite things about the neighborhood I live in is that it includes eCreamery‘s boutique ice cream parlor. It feels extra-special because its custom ice cream has been featured as a hot gift idea in all kinds of places, like The View and USA Today. AND they’re headed to the South Beach Wine… Continue reading Sweet Dreams

I woke up yesterday thinking that a roasted corn salsa would be delicious, and that it could probably go with a southwest grilled salmon, and that maybe some polenta would be a nice accompaniment for both. Yesterday being a Farmer’s Market day (and one of the last 3 of the year!!), I was excited to… Continue reading Fun with Polenta
Thursday I was offered a chance to pick up an unclaimed CSA share, and naturally couldn’t refuse. We came into a bounty of tomatoes, potatoes, cabbage, kale, beans, peppers, broccoli, raspberries and more. So we have been eating many vegetables! My favorite is a fresh herb-and-tomato salsa made with these delicious cherry tomatoes. Despite the… Continue reading Vegetable Weekend
[image by skeksa @ Gastronomic Fight Club via Flickr] My requirements for an awesome birthday: My husband being there (versus being on the other side of the world). Partying with friends. Cupcakes from Cupcake Island. No pressure to do anything I didn’t want to do. The Boiler Room restaurant being as great as everyone says… Continue reading Best Birthday Dinner Ever
