You know, I would guess 99% of American women in our generation totally take for granted the freedoms we have that didn’t exist for us a century ago. Ladies, can you imagine being thought of as intellectually inferior and therefore unfit – and ineligible – to vote? And what about sports in schools? What must it have been like to have never had a volleyball team or a softball team to play on as a child?
I stumbled across The Library of Congress’s Women Striving Forward, 1910s – 1940s set on Flickr this morning. I love this image of a group of women coming together to cheer on a cause. I also like this image of Pearl Harbor widows working in a factory as revenge for their husbands’ lives.
