For the Love of the Travel Guide

I have to pause to applaud the DK Eyewitness Travel Guides series. We purchased our first in advance of our honeymoon to have a resource on all things Paris. We loved that so much that we got one before we went to Alaska, and then figured we could make it a collection before we went to Crete. If for nothing else, grab these guides for some great recommendations on where to eat. We have stumled on some of the most amazing restaurants in our travels because of these books. Some of our absolute faves:

Tamam Tavern in Chania, Crete – a former Turkish bath house turned restaurant serving incredible eastern Mediterranean food

Kyria Maria, Rethymno, Crete – in a shaded alleyway, underneath birds in cages, outstanding service. XoXo, we love you!

Villa del Sueno Restaurant, Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica – romantic, delicious, impeccable service… and fancy, so fancy.

Plus, the books feature detailed information about wildlife, geographic features, culture and some of the most must-see sights. Yay!
