Last week a 6.2 earthquake hit Costa Rica. The epicenter was just 20 miles north of the capital city, San Jose, the city we’re flying into in a matter of days. And so I realized that it is time to brush up on my Earthquake Preparedness (Just In Case).  Throw me a tornado, and I’m in the basement. A hurricane, I’m headed for the Mason-Dixon line. Earthquake: I’m not so sure.

The Alaska Sea Grant College Program has a website with  instructions for what to do in five scenarios – including If you are at the beach. They also cover Indoors, Outside, In the car and In a mountainous area. Alas, the delightful illustrations only seem to cover the Indoors scenario, and, unfortunately, they don’t cover On a suspension bridge…
